The Rector of the Academy of Social and Medical Sciences in Lublin – University of Applied Sciences has appointed a Plenipotentiary for Students with Disabilities. The scope of the Plenipotentiary’s duties includes:
Providing assistance in obtaining information on government programs for students/persons with disabilities;
Providing information about institutions and non-governmental organizations supporting students/persons with disabilities;
Providing advisory support in interventions addressed to institutions offering assistance to students/persons with disabilities;
Providing information about targeted programs implemented by the State Fund for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (PFRON) for students;
Acting in defense of the interests of students/persons with disabilities;
Assisting students with disabilities in solving their current problems;
Assisting students with disabilities in completing documents related to the course of studies;
Preventing discrimination against persons with disabilities;
Mediating contacts between students with disabilities and the university administration regarding the course of studies, technical conditions, and communication and architectural barriers;
Representing matters of students with disabilities before university authorities, academic teachers, and in the academic community;
Issuing opinions on decisions concerning students with disabilities made by the university;
Assisting in adapting the form of exams and course assessments to individual needs resulting from a student’s disability.
The Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Students with Disabilities does not handle:
Matters related to financial issues in the student–university relationship;
Tuition-related matters (arrears, discounts, etc.) – these are handled individually by the student at the tuition fees office;
Scholarships – these are handled individually by the student at the scholarship office;
Participation in government programs (PFRON, MOPS), which is individual and does not require the involvement of the Plenipotentiary;
Pension and social benefit matters – the Plenipotentiary does not act as an intermediary.
